I can't believe I didn't think to search for hidden files.

Thank you both very much for all your help with this. I may not be able to
recover my old .pst file, but now that I have my nickname list, I at least
have access to all of my important contacts.

Well, here is a solution that worked for me !!!
Take the corrupted PST file to a computer that runs Outlook 2003.
Operate SCANPST.EXE of the outlook 2003 on your file.
Tada !!!!!!! It will fix the file !!!!

scanpst.exe fails with fatal error:80040818 usually occurs when PST file is corrupted or damage. Actually Microsoft had provided scanpst tool also known as inbox repair tool to repair corrupted PST file but sometimes inbox repair tool fails to repair corrupt PST file when the PST file exceeds from 2GB size limit and also when the PST file has been brought from older version of Outlook.However, you can resolve error 80400818 by using the correct version of PST file and if the PST file is corrupted due to oversize, then you can use PST crop tool to reduce the size of PST file. Even if you are not able to repair the corrupt, then use Outlook PST repair tool to repair corrupt PST file and to get rid of 80400818.
