scanning text for editing

im trying to scan a form document and want to edit some of the text as well
as add to the information that is standard form from the publisher. i have a
dell pc and im using a dell scanner printer with ms xp home edition

you need a software known as
optical character recognition, aka OCR.

basically, if your printer is referred
to as a printer/scanner, you may have
an ocr installed.

however, check with dell to see if one was
provided with your system
or available for your printer/scanner.

in addition, Microsoft office software suite
includes Microsoft Office Document Scanning
and can be started via the office tools option.

sometimes depending on the file,
you can use the select all option
of it's parent program, then copy and
paste the data as unformatted text
into office. but this doesn't work
for all files.
