scanner problems

I downloaded a scanner software off the internet but when I attempted to
install,about halfway through it stopped and displayed this message "
file C:\windows\system32\MFC42.dll is in use and
cannot be installed,Please exit all other applications and retry." Can
somebody please help me with this?

Clean bot and retry. Start | run | msconfig goto startup tab and deselect
all items and reboot. Try installing. If you still cant contact the software
makers direct.
