scanner

I am trying to install a scanner on my computer. When I insert the CD it says:
16 bit SUBSYSTEM
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. Thesystem file is not suitable for running
MS-DOS and microsoft Windows applications.

hELP PLEASE!
