Scanner Problem

I have just installed my old scanner (Snapscan 1212u) on to a friends
computer and I get a message A Communication Problem Occurred. Open log file
to find out more. Can anyone tell me where I find the log file. I havent got
the original installation cd so I downloaded the drivers from the Agfa driver
site.
Any help I would be greatful for Thank you

log files are either .log or *log.txt files, and usually named obviously and
in the %windir% folders

What interface does this 'old' scanner use ?
For example... Is it a parallel port based scanner ?

Sorry David should have said connected to the USB Port via a spare printer
lead I had as I have mislaid the original

What does "...USB Port via a spare printer lead..." mean ?

Either it is USB or printer port.
