scanner not recognized

hello there i was wondering if ou could help.

my scanner canon lide20 has worked perfectly for 2 years but all of a
sudden it is not recongnized. it not listed in the imaging devices installed

i have uninstalled and reinstalled but still nothing happens.i get the
message unable to link to twain.

i have tried to add new hardware even that doesn't work.

i have check all usb port the lead and everything but it just wont pick up
the scanner what has happened and how can i fix it.

hi..
have had problems with scanners in the past...first uninstall again and make
sure it is removed in the device manager.Check your USB is recognised and
thirdly I remember cancelling" twain and twunk"...but dont remember from
where...and after trying one or all of these ,reinstall .
