Scanjet 5100C

Having problems with an HP Scanjet 5100c and XP Home
Edition. When the 5100C is connected to the computer and
turned on it causes the system to reboot continuosly.
Also I have an HP Deskjet 722C connected to the scanner.
The software driver that came with the scanner was
loaded.

If I disconnect the printer from the scanner it does not
change anything --- system continuosly reboots.

Ideas???? other than buy another scanner........

Hello

Sounds like maybe oyu have a driver problem, try going
to www.hp.com and look for the most recent drivers for your scanner

I'm running an HP Scanjet 5200c scanner with XP Home and have had no
problems. I did download the most recent software/driver for this
scanner from the HP site and install it first. My printer is an HP
Deskjet 890 which is connected to the parallel port.
