scandisk

I couldn't find scandisk on my son's windows 2000
professional. I used to run it before disk clean and then
defrag. I try to run defrag now and his system completely
reboots. Anybody got any ideas? Have run anti virus,
adware, spybot, and nothing turned up. thanks for the
help. Dave

Win2000 uses chkdsk in lieu of scandisk. It can be run from a command prompt window or you can access it via My Computer, then right-click on the drive and select Properties > Tools tab.

When used on the active partition (C drive), a restart is required.

If you still have a problem with running defrag in the normal mode, run it in the safe mode instead.
