saving only the audio as an audio file

can someone please tell me how I save only the audio from my video as an
audio file?

put the clip on the audio/music track and save the movie.. with only audio
in it, MM2 will give you options for audio files...

when I drag the clip to the audio/music track the clip is put onto the video
track only. How do I put the clip onto only the audio/music track?

drag it further down,,, you're letting go too soon. But you can grab it from
the video track and move it to the audio/music track too. Try it.

still not working...I can import an audio file to the collections and then
drag this to the audio/music track (so I must be dragging the clips OK) but
when I try dragging the video clip into the audio/music track, the clip is
automatically positioned into the video track of the timeline.
Any other ideas?

What kind of source file is it?.... if it's a WMV you might try renaming
it's extension to wma before importing it.

I use the feature a lot, so if it's not working???

the audio I want is of the video clip so I guess the source file is a WMV
i.e. just imported from my camcorder to the computer. How do I go about
renaming the extension? the clip is currently in the collections part of the
window as the video clip.

copy it from the wmv file to another file with a wma extension instead of
wmv.... import it and it should come in as if it's an audio/music file.

brilliant, thanks - I managed to get only the audio and saved the project as
a WMA file. Unfortunately I have just copied this to a CD but it does not
work in the CD player. When I try to use Nero to burn the CD it says it
doesn't recognise the file type. Sorry for my ignorance but how do I transfer
this WMA file to an audio CD.

Use the Windows Media Player to burn a disc from it.... audio CD's use a
different format than wma.... but you're getting there...
