Saving Categories when Backing up BCM

A colleague and I share our BCM database by backing up to a server and then
updating on our laptops. When we do this however, the categories we have
selected are not updated. Is there a way to preserve the categories? or do
they only remain with the original author?

Are you using Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007?
Is the "Categories" field actually empty on when you open Business Contacts that were modified?
Or are the new categories not showing up in Outlook's master categories list (Actions | Categorize | All Categories...)?

I experimented with this and found that the category definitions and colors
are stored locally in each users Outlook. It is not part of the shared BCM
db. Therefore you have to define them and then order each user to define an
identical set on their outlook. I suggest creating a dummy contact where you
can put the category list in the comment field and refer all users to that
contact to get this list of categories and colors to use. Painful, but seems
to be the only way.
