Saved Archive emails

I saved emails from a folder in outlook to my hard drive. When I look on the
hard drive I get the Microsoft Office symbol and the file is called Archive
email. When I double click it asks me to "open with" either from a list
(none of which work) or search the website but I can't find the answer. Can
anyone help me as these are important archived emails.

Close your browser and open Outlook. To access the Archive.pst file, you do
so from from Outlook. Here are the steps:

File | open | outlook data file | browse to the one you found archive.pst.
It will now show up in the Folder List below your usual Outlook folders.
Click any folder to access it's contents. You can file additional ietms
into these Archive folders by dragging them there. eg you can file old sent
emails into a folder in the Archive as you now see it right there in
Outlook.

PLEASE post your version every time you have a question!

I hope this helps you at least a little bit!

Judy, This does not help me. The file is not in outloook - it is on my C
drive under my documents and does not have a .pst after it. It simply is
there with the Microsoft symbol followed by Archive emails.
When I double click to open it I get the following:
You are attempting to open a file of type 'Office data file' (.pst). These
files are used by the operting system and by various programs.
Editing them or modifying them could damage your system. If you still want
to open the file, click Open With, otherwise, click cancel.
When I click Open with I get:
Windows cannot open this file.

File: archive emails.pst

To open the this file, windows needs to know what program created it.
Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select
from a list of programs on your computer.

What do you want to do?

Use the web service to find the approppriare program

Select the program from a list.

No program on my computer opens it (I've tried them all)
When I use the web service to look it up I am lost.

Hope you cna help
Jim

That means that you are not displaying known file types. Open WIndows
Explorer and click Tools>Folder Optons>View. Uncheck the box labeled "Hide
extensions for known file types".
When I double click to open it I get the following:
You are attempting to open a file of type 'Office data file' (.pst).

Of course. You NEVER open a PST by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer.
You open it in Outlook with File>Open>Outlook Data File, just like Judy
said.

If you see a file named "Archive" and it's icon is the Office icon and its
description contains "Office Data File", it's a PST and it will open in
Outlook if it's not damaged.

Try using my instructions as it seems you have yet to try them. If you're
worried about it getting worse, copy the Archive file first and then follow
my instructions. You MUST open from within Outlook as I described. There
are posts about how to open archive files here at least weekly. You'll see
those same instructions in all of them.
