Opening archived folders that were closed

I archived some folders to several Archive Folders. Then I closed the Archive
Folders. When I tried to open any of these folders by selecting its saved
file after the following step, a new Archive Folders showed up but the
sub-folder that contains the emails never displayed.

File -> Open -> Outlook Data File...

How do I get the sub-folder back? Thanks.

Are you opening the correct Archive?
Since Archiveing works on modifies dates did the folders meet the modified
date criteria?
