save password in win xp rdp client

I am trying to use another windows 2000 remote desktop client and/or XP's
remote desktop client's to log into a windows 2000 server. I have no
problems actually logging in, but I would like to setup a shortcut to simply
get me on the box. I've tried to save the settings, but it still asks me
for a password when I connect. My understanding is that this should be able
to be automated. Can anyone help? The 2000 server has no domain so I leave
that box blank.

Anyone know of a solution to this issue? I'vr tried connecting to two
different win2k servers in 2 different domains from a winxp pro box
but it still asks me for a password.

ooops,

sorry, i mixed up something:

you could deactivate in (translated from german)
control-panel/administration/TerminalServiceConfiguration/Connections/right
click RDP-TCP/Properties/Login Settings/Always require password
but I would not do this for security reasons as this would be valid for all
connecting users.

I think, there's no GPO where you could set this option only for specific
users, so I would always enter the password

In that same window there is also an option to "use client provided
logon information" which seems to work fine.

I'm not sure I understand. For my situation (from win2k
pro desktop to win2k server in admin mode), using RDC
client (5.1?), even though I enter passwords and
click "save password", I still get challenged for a
password at login. In other words, it's really only
saving the username & domain. Am I missing something? Is
there a way to automate this? I regularly have to open up
8-12 sessions (on different servers) and would rather not
have to enter the passwords. Once on each, I'm stopping a
couple of batch programs and re-starting them, so maybe
there's a better way. Any suggestions are appreciated.

There must be setting on your server requesting typing the password during
logging on.

Run TSCC.MSC on the server => Double-Click on RDP-Tcp => Click on "Logon
Settings" tab

There is a checkbox "Always prompt for password" - make sure it is not
checked

This should help. If not Check the General Policy setting on the server.

"Always prompt client for password upon connection" - this policy is under

Administrative Templates => Windows Components => Terminal Services =>
Encryption and Security

Make sure it is "Not Configured" or "Disabled"

Thanks,
That was the answer. It just didn't click with me that a
server setting would affect a stored client setting.
Thanks for the help.
