What version of Word are you using?
If you want to transfer a single style from one document to another you can
use the Format Painter.
If you want to transfer several styles at once you can use Organzier (under
Tools, Templates and AddIns - 2003 and prior). see "Copy styles, AutoText
entries, toolbars, or macros" in Word Help for details.
In W2007, you get at the Organizer via Styles & Formatting (Ctrl-Alt-
Shift-S), third unmoarked button at the bottom (screen tip "Manage
Styles"), "Import/Export" button at the lower left.
