Save changes to template Word 2003

Hi there

Every time I close a document opened from a template I am Prompted to Save
Changes to the template. The User is using Word 2003. This does not happen
on another machine opening the same document and running the same version of
word.

Any help greatly appreciated.

First check if any of the styles in the document has not been set with "Add
to template" checked.
Hope this helps

Under Format, Styles and Formatting, Modify.
But this setting of "Add to template" does not save with the file.
Check under Tools, Options, Save, Prompt to save Normal template.

Hi Dean

When I go in I do not get Format, Styles and Formatting, Modify. I can not
go in and mod styles. The option to save normal is not checked.

Do you not see the File, Edit, View, etc. menu? Format is in this built-in
menu.
As I mentioned before the "Add to template" check box does not save with the
file.
Is the problem of the Prompt still occuring even after closing of Word and
rebooting machine? Is it only one document or all documents opened on this
particular machine?

I have the Format & the styles and formatting menus, but when I click on
them all it seems to do is highlight the AA symbol on the toolbar beside the
normal.

The whole problem happens when you open up a letter that was based on a
template other than the normal template. Even if you say Y to save the
template then redo the same thing the message pops up. There are 12
machines on site all running Word 2003 and the same service pack but it only
happens on 3 of the machines. All the machines are running XP.

Hope this helps.

Check Tools, Templates and Addins and the check box for "Automatically update
document styles".

Cross-fingers ;-)
