samsung scd-103 is not found

I recently bought a camcorder from a friend a Samsung SCD-103, i wanted to
trasfer the videos from the camera to my computer. So i bought the IEEE 1394
hardware. I installed the program for the camera and now when i open the
program a little screen pops up saying "Device not found, Comfirm connection
with computer or device mode". What could be the problem?

You shouldn't actually need any third party program for the camcorder...

When you connect the camcorder to the PC with the firewire cable and turn
the camcorder on and in VCR mode, do you hear the connection 'ding' audio?

Yes, when i connect the camera with IEEE and turn it on i hear a ding noise.

Once you hear the 'ding' open Windows Movie Maker.... and capture!

Is this camcorder MiniDV or a mini DVD one?
