okay, so i bought a dynex 6 to 4 pin firewire cable so i can connect my
camcorder to my pc and record the video I've saved in windows movie
maker(record the video from windows movie maker to a dv camera). Problem is,
when i connect the cable, no new hardware pops up. i opened the device
manager and there is no IEEE 1394 device anywhere. Can anyone please help me,
asap. This is really really important, thank you.

If the firewire port is built into your motherboard, make sure it is enabled
in the bios. If it is, you should see firewire entries in Device Manager
(before you plug in your firewire devices).

Have a look in Network Connections and see if the 1394 is shown there, if it
is disabled then right click on it and enable it. I believe 4 pin ports do
not provide power to the external device .. so is your camera powered up?
