(1) How do you get Windows XP SP2 home edition to boot in safe mode?
(2) I have an AOL data file (My Email saved on my PC, 117 KB) that I want to
delete and replace with another, larger, file (5104 KB) of the same name
(psrumbaugh). Windows XP won't let me delete / replace the old file saying
that it is in use by a program or other user. However, I have not used AOL
since booting. How do I delete / replace the new file with the old file?

Same as you you do with the Pro edition. :-)

Turn on the computer and start tapping the F8 key rapidly just as soon
as the first information of any kind shows on the screen. Keep
tapping until the Windows XP Startup Menu appears and chose "Safe
Mode" (or one of the other options such as Safe Mode with Networking
if that is preferable for your purposes) from the menu.

Try it in Safe Mode.

Good luck

To start in safe mode, reboot your computer and after bios promp
(before windows start) press F6 or F8 (I don't remember wich one fo
sure). Just press both of them and you will have a menu asking you ho
to boot. Choose safe mode and then your windows version.

To replace your file, try it in safe mode because windows probabl
won't load the AOL process
