I have just tried to get a picture up on my TV with an s-
video to scart lead and the picture is in grey-scale only.

Any ideas?

Check with the graphic card manufacturer's website to see if they have an
option to switch from NTSC to PAL...... it should be automatic when the
signal is received from the SCART socket, but for some strange reason, is
not working correctly in your TV.

actually this has nothing to do with NTSC and Pal. You either need to select s-video mode within your tv settings, or if it does not support s-video you will need to tell your computer to output composite video only. Note that many tvs only accept s-video in one of the scart sockets. IT may be worth your while reading your tv manual to make sure you are trying to use the right one.
