Runtime error launching IE

I frequently receive the following error when launching Internet Explorer.
It typically happens when there is more than one user logged on and after
switching from one user to another.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error
Program C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

Any suggestions on what might be causing this and how it can be fixed.
