Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library --Runtime Error!

I can't launch Internet Explorer 8. I get the following messagerogram:
C:\program files\internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Please help!
I use a Dell Inspiron 8200 noteboox with XP Pro sp2

Did this occur before you installed IE8? Does it occur if you uninstall
IE8?
