Runtime Error in Outlook 2002

Every time I first open Microsoft Outlook, I get the following error
message:
"Microsfot Visual C++ Runtime Library -- Program C/Program
Files/Microsoft Office/Office 10/OUTLOOK.EXE. This application has
requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please
contact the application's support team for more information."

The second time I try, it opens just fine.

What can I do to avoid this annoyance?

Have you tried detect and repair? As a long shot, have you tried opening
the Visual Basic Editor (Alt+F11) one time to see if it clears up?

After furious head scratching, (e-mail address removed) asked:
