running out of space.........I "guess"?

Well, it's the "OP" here.....giving everyone the final business on this great
topic.

Mike Hall: you are the MAN!!! I got a separate drive (cheap now adays) and
backed up like many in these threads suggested. Then I downloaded the Easus
product just like Mike said, followed his directions and NO PROBLEMS!!!
Ended up SO easy and no complications at all. Was able to defrag, cleanup,
check out and am happy as a clam. I have been running over a week with no
problems, all applications running as normal. Didn't even have to do
anything with Quicken (like go back and restore the backup). Works like a
champ! Have plenty of room on my C drive and a little less on my D drive but
still lots of room there if needed in the future for data and photos/videos.

Gerry: you are a little too geeky for a novice techie. And kinda proud of
your vast knowledge about storage and everything. Basically, I couldn't
follow most of your suggestions, and after reviewing all of it, I was REALLY
scared to move everything around, change all those little bells and whistles
like you advised.....plus you are so degrading of others that I didn't really
"want" to follow your advice. I know, my issue, not yours.........and you
probably help tons of folks because you are so knowledgeable. However, your
suggestions were hard, the end solution I picked was not.

Ken Blake: good inputs, thanks as well.

Tim Meddick: I did get the WinDirStat and used it. Gave me more insight
into what was taking up space, but in the end since I had all that space over
on the D partition I didn't utilize the knowledge gained. However, I DID dig
the little pacmans eating across the screen as it figured out what was what
and how big.

To the others posting: Thanks for inputs...some of them were not helpful
and seemed like just chatter from techies trying to prove they had the best
solution to the exclusion of other solutions or just plain nit-picky replies
to personal issues. Some seemed to forget that I was a novice techie, did
declare my problem completely in my opening thread which showed I had tons of
disk space, just on the wrong partition, and was not running multiple OS's or
any other thing worthy of alot of the comments. But, it WAS enlightening, it
was entertaining, and it was worth it because my problem is solved AND I
learned a bunch.

Thanks again..................a slightly "less" novice techie

See my post farther down on 7/16/09 for my update.

Bear in mind that what you see farther down is not necessarily at all
what the rest of us see.

You are using the awful web interface to participate in this
newsgroup. It's the slowest, clunkiest, most error-prone method of
using the newsgroups there is. Do yourself a favor and switch to a
newsreader, such as Outlook Express, which comes with Windows XP, or
Windows Mail, which comes with Vista. See
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/outlookexpressnewreader.htm

What's farther down depends on the order in which messages are sorted
as well as whether already-read messages are still available to see.
