Freeing up space on C: drive

I have a VAIO with 2 partitions (C: - 14 GB and D: - 41 GB). My C: drive is
running out of space. I have moved My Documents to the D: drive and all new
applications are being installed in D:\Program Files.

I tried moving the MS Outlook files to D: but this has caused problems with
ActiveSync and Wireless Sync which are no longer synchronizing my MS Outlook
files with my smartphone.

1) Is it safe to delete old $NtUninstall files to free up space? There are
some pretty large folders dated back to 1 year ago.
2) What else can I do to free up space on the C: drive?

It is safe to delete those files. HOWEVER, if there is a conflict that
arises, you will not be able to delete/remove the update. I will usually keep
my updates for about 60 days and then delete them. I feel that if I haven't
encountered a problem within that time, I probably won't, and I haven't. You
might consider burning them to a CD/DVD. I have done that in the past as well.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. The problem with resizing is that the C: drive is at
the maximum size that Sony allows me to configure it. Getting an additional
drive doesn't help create more space on the C: drive. I'll go ahead and
delete those files that are 1 year old. That should free up quite a bit of
space.

An alternative is to back up your data and do a Sony factory restore
(starting over). The Sony restore procedures I've seen lately have
allowed you to choose between their standard (stupid) partitioning or
one large partition. Check with Sony tech support first to make sure
your model has that option before starting the factory restore!

You do not have to install to the default drive. I have my 160gig drive in
two partitions. I have some progs that I have installed on the D partition. I
have a second 120gig that I also have installed progs on. I keep my docs off
the partition with the OS.

Uninstall programs installed on the C: drive and reinstall on D:. Redirect
temporary internet files to D:. Why can't you expand C with 3rd party
software such as BootitNG or Symantec's Partition Magic?
