Running Different Nvidia Drivers on x86

Just for hardware info to show my problem is NOT hardware.

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
AMD 4800+X2
4.00 GB Ram
Asus 6600GT 128MB

After loading the Vista x86 version on my computer (clean install, not
upgrade) the Aero effects worked nicely, but not any games such as World of
Warcraft or Dawn of War. I loaded the newer Nvidia graphics on my
computer.... still nothin. I figured 32-bit is 32-bit right? So I loaded the
older XP drivers that came with my video card.
(After uninstalling drivers in Device Manager and under Add/Remove Programs)
Now the games look good... but the Aero effects and eye-candy died. I can
reload the newer drivers for the GUI but the games crap out. Also I can't set
game settings such as Antialiasing and Antistropic Filtering. Is this just me
or what? Not sure if reinstalling Vista x86 would work(reset all things back)
or if I should upgrade to x64, hoping that 64-bit drivers will work. Hope I
am just a victim of chance ;)

You are correct, it is not a hardware problem. The problem lies squarely
with the graphics drivers which themselves are beta and as yet not fully
functional. Some graphics chips are having more luck than others with these
drivers. Hopefully both nVidia and ATI will produce fully functioning
drivers by the time Vista reaches the store shelves.

To my knowledge, the only signed driver for your card is on the Vista CD.
Trying to use any of the drivers from the NV website will probably not work
at this time. Jane C is correct.

Hi,
I installed build 5472 and the system went to the Microsoft Windows Vista
update site and got me the newest drivers for NVIDIA and the Realtek ac 97
sound system of my Gigabyte SINXP1394 mobo with Apollo Geforce FX 5500.
Works fine, except for problems when I want too much transparency. Then
everything goes to black screens.
