Are you aware that Media Edition is a superset of XP Professional
(with one exception: Media Edition doesn't allow joining a domain)?
So, unless you need to join a domain, you will achieve nothing by
doing this.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am attempting to do online courses from a
University and the software needed only recognizes XP Professional. I have
already tried an SQL 2005 course and I find I am not able to link one of the
databases that came with my download to the Exchange box.
Any way I recall hearing that the Boot magic program that came with the
Partition Magic is the way to go. Is there an online help that tells how to
do this - I have never used this type of software so I am completely "green"
on how to start. Is there a Microsoft newsgroup out there or a knowledge
base. I have not found either.

Partition Magic more or less works intuitively. As long as you leave empty
space on your hard disc for the second operating system, you just slect the
option to install another operating system, and PM does the rest. Yoyu
should be aware that when you boot into one operating system, the other(s)
are hidden so it is a good idea to create a partition on which data can be
passed betwen one and the other. You can use the FAT32 partition on which
PM has to reside.
