rundll32 problem: It takes 100% of CPU usage

M

Mark Fisher

In the last day or two a problem with rundll32.exe has arisen: It takes
essentially 100% of CPU usage and brings some things to a halt. I can't
kill it off, but I can set its priority as low and then I get get work
done, but its always using whatever cycles are free. If I shut down,
then when I reboot, everything is fine for a while. ... but then it
takes over again. I have downloaded and installed software related to
mySQL and java recently. Any ideas as to how to fix things?

BTW, I'm running XP Pro (sp1) on an IBM ThinkPad T41.

Thanks very much for the link. I can run the command from within my text
editor (TextPad) and capture the output. However, since I emailed the
newsgroup the problem has not returned. At least I am prepared for next
time.

Mark,

If all it took was posting a message here to fix something... :)

Keep having fun!
