rundll32.exe

my xp runs fine except after about an hour of running, the cpu runs at 100% non-stop and executing applications and working within them slows to a crawl. Even after I close all open applications, the cpu will not drop from 100% usage. rundll32.exe seems to be the culprit as it runs constantly at >95% of cpu power even though i do nothing.

any help will be appreciated.

thanks.

High CPU useage is an indication of a virus/trojan etc.
Have you updated and run your anti-virus program?

Get the Ad-aware and Spybot programs (search for those
names on Google). Update and run weekly. SpywareBlaster
is also worth installing.

Clean up your computer - Internet Explorer/Tools/Options/
the General tab - Delete cookies and files. Keep in mind
that some cookies will contain passwords to certain sites
