RUNDLL32.EXE Shutdown errors

Mike

When I run shutdown on the computer (XP) there is message
with a progression window saying ending RUNDLL32.EXE. It
takes some time for it to close, and sometimes ends in an
error, meaning the computer never shuts down without
additional intervention. This only started recently.
What can I do to get rid of this?
