rundll.exe error message.

Usually problem free system (2.53G P4 256ddr XP home) has
just started displaying on shut down a window saying
something like 'rundll32.exe shutting down' with a bar
showing shut down progress. When at the end another
window says unable to access as program not responding,
and I have to select 'end now' or system just hangs there
and goes no further. Shuts down without further problems,
system runs fine all other times

Hi,

Some program is not terminating properly, it's not rundll.exe, but rather an
application on the system that is invoking it to run a library file. Try
manually shutting down running applications and processes (hit
ctrl+shift+escape and use task manager) before initiating shutdown to see if
you can discover which is the culprit.
