Rules not automatically running

Outlook 2003:
I have some rules set up to help filter spam.
They work fine if I go to Tools/Rules and Alerts/Run Rules Now...

But they don't seem to work automatically when items arrive.

Any suggestions??

open the specific rule [modify] - make sure the "Turn on this rule" box is checked in the next to last rules wizard info box
this is in 200

I am having the same problem, however, this only seems to
happen when I initially open Outlook and when the INBOX
is highlighted. As long as I can unhighlight the INBOX
fast enough (ex: have another folder highlighted instead
such as a FAMILY folder I have created) all incoming
emails run thru the rules just fine and only a few miss
the rules. If Outlook is currently running and does an
auto send and receive with or without the INBOX being
highlighted the rules run fine and all the emails are
sent where they need to go...

The problem I refer to with the rules mainly seems
connected to initially starting Outlook and a conflict
with running the rules and the INBOX.

I have had this same problem, and the rules seem to process if I click on send&receive immediately after opening up Outlook. Maybe because the inbox is no longer highlighted then ? I never thought about it that way. I think I'll try changing the folder Outlook starts up in and see if that fixes it too.
