Rude replies

You may address me as kurtdevil!
Is there some reason that you feel driven to write insulting and
abusive material?

Nope. I just want to.
It must go back to an unhappy childhood, I suppose.

LOL! If I had you as a father, perhaps, however my old man was a man
with a big set of balls, not a pretentious little pansy like you.
But why don't you cut out the "***" and write the words out in full
English? I assume it because you know that someone would cut out your
reply. Cowardly!

LOL!

http://microscum.com/censored/

I'm no stranger to being censored. I censor my own words for the little
brats left to surf the net without parental supervision.
I am not a pansy: details of my heterosexual background can be
supplied (though not on this site).

LOL! It figures you would misunderstand me alluding to your affected
effeminate nature as meaning I'm calling you gay! Your a senile
homophobic pansy!
But if all you can do is to smear
those who object to your remarks, then you have no place in what is
called an Expert Zone for the discussions of problems involving the
resolutions of XP problems.

LOL! "Expert Zone!"
Because you promoted it in these very pages, I have seen your
polemical website. It may surprise you but I do not disagree with
many of the points you make on that site. What I do disagree with is
your immediate snarling attitude on this particular website. The
words "Up" and "Grow" leap unbidden to my lips.

This isn't a website, it just appears that way to those that use the
dumbed down web access. If you polled all of the regulars around here,
most, like around 90% in not more, would vote to ban the web interface
to this group.

"Up" yours! And "Grow" some balls, Neil. There is a very long
tradition of flaming in Newsgroups. And if you can't stand the heat,
maybe you would fare better someplace else, like an old age home.
Go and lie in a darkened room and keep taking the tablets.

I'm a heretic and gave up on the Ten Commandments long ago!

As a relatively new subscriber to this newsgroup, I wish to express
my disgust that one or two people are replying to questions that have
been posed by persons who are in difficulties by writing insulting
and useless replies that do not help the person who posed the
original queries.

Greetings David,

....and before you pull the age trip on me I have to say I am not too
far off your age ;-)

Although I agree with your sentiments over rudeness to people asking
sensible questions please try to understand the following. The vast
proportion of Usenet is anarchistic, there is no one who can control
it. There are some newsgroups through some servers that are heavily
moderated to the extent that you may not see the question that you
posted for a few days...the more moderated and controlled the less
usable they become. The thing is that for an anarchistic environment
things work pretty well on the whole. Now about trouble makers and
rude people who rile you enough to make you angry etc.:

As you are posting via web you have very little control over them.
Best to get a good newsreader client (I use XanaNews, but, most are
functional) and with that you can if necessary block or filter users
and content as you see fit. Watch out for Trolls too, they will bait
you at first gently maybe or figure out your weakness just to wind you
up and create arguments. Normally they are sociopathic and attention
seeking, but, often intelligent as well.

There is no way of really stopping people using newsgroups as even if
they can be banned or warned they can always re-enter under a different
alias. There is no international law, and probably never be one, to
stop unstable, insane or just rude people using the Internet. The
bottom line is to not get wound up, not concentrate upon the Bozos, get
a good newsreader and learn how to filter etc.

Don't blame God for the rain, take an umbrella.

Rob (and I bet there are quite a few other Robs too :))

Thanks for the balanced response. I learned something new. But when I see
people responding arrogantly (not you), I will reply. Someone has to stand up
for decency and constructive assistance.

In part this is what the thread he complains about is about. Of which no person seeking assistance was even mentioned after the first level replies and certainly not abused. Also the original poster was not afflicted.

You'll just get flamed for it (as you already have), generating more of
the same stuff you're objecting to.

Didn't happen. He is complaining about people, who seek to make the "afflicted" life's very hard, being abused for their abusive behaviour.

The moron seems to think that swearing is a crime but denying fixes to people is a good thing.

Dear Mr Eddy

I do appreciate the fact that you are taking the time to address the issues
I have raised. I don't at this time see the link you mention for complaining.
I have already complained in detail. If you can't find the people concerned,
that's your problem.

I appreciate what has been said about people using the same name: it just
doesn't sit well with me. Change the system, I say. One name one contributor!

Can't quite figure how mine was pulled as I didn't swear in it and just
said goodbye to the one that was using a foul mouth. There you go,
censorship is indiscriminatory.

Answer me right now: is it GOOD or is it BAD to sneer and use
insulting and bad language in response to the queries of the
afflicted?

You should just have read DHL's post and tried to learn from it.

If every reply that David Candy or I made here was one long continuous
insult, I might be more inclined to agree with you. However that is
very far from the case. With the exception of a handful of regulars,
I'm on very respectful terms with most every one else.

You paint way to broad a brush. From my point of view, I'm only "rude"
to those deserving of it. And those that butt their nose where it
really doesn't belong, deserve it in my book. I'm an Amercian, and I
don't mince words. I tell it as I see it, and I don't take any
prisoners.

Neil, actually taking the time to reply to rude posters in Usenet is
almost counter productive, unless you are just bored and want to play
with them for a while.

Most of the people that are rude are rude to hide some insecurity they
have or because they desire attention. Many rude posters have an agenda
that does not coincide with the groups charter (if it has one) or the
normal usage of the group - there are there to get attention for their
cause (even if you never figure out their cause).

A reasonable explanation of Trolls/Trolling can be read at this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_troll

Over the years you will learn to spot trolls, some are easy, some are
very good at it and hard to spot. It almost never does any good to argue
with a troll, even if you're just having fun with them. I've been guilty
of playing with a couple of the groups trolls here, and even gotten bit
by a couple, but they are here to stay as they get plenty of attention.

The key part of this is that even responding to a troll just feeds them
with more reasons to post/keep posting - they need the attention to feed
their disease.

Like when my mom used to complain about my driving too fast, and kept
going on and on about it. She couldn't stop herself, even though she
knew the more she bitched the faster I drove!

I wasn't gonna let her get me upset with her over her nagging, nor was I
gonna give in to it, and let her have her way in my car.

Same with back-seat USENET driver. The more they bitch about more
posts, the more I give them something to bitch over! And the whole time
I'm just laughing at the getting upset over mere words! People are
being killed all over the world, but some senile homophobic pansy is
gonna stand up to my impoliteness, like that is gonna make all the
difference, and we can all live happily ever after!

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!

Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!

When I'm stuck a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And Grin,
And Say,
Oh!

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!
