Routing & RAS

Can anyone help please.

I have the following server hardware:

Intel based, 2 network card, one for use internally, ip
address 10.0.0.2, 2nd network card 192.168.0.2, attached
to a DSL router.

Problem: when RAS is enabled or the service started, can
not make connection to internet. By the way It has
nothing to do with proxy setting in internet connection
settings.

it seems the network card is taken out all together!! in
command window when you type ping the 2nd NIC
(192.168.0.2) you instantly get 'unreachable host'!.

Stop the RAS service, internet will be back on again and
everything is normal!

I need to get the RAS and internet connection on the file
server working together.

Can anyone help please????

How do you know? You really should try to use "ICS" with
RRAS but rather prefer the more capable NAT built into RRAS.

NAT does the same thing, only better, and is only slightly more
complicated.

Command window from Where, on the same server?
That would indicate an IP failure.

ICS always configures the internal NIC as 192.168.0.1 so that
doesn't really make sense either. 192.168.0.2 would be assigned
(by ICS) to an internal machine in most cases.

Stop using ICS, switch to NAT.

Add NAT in the IP RRAS area. Add the DSL external (Public) NIC, then add
the internal (Private) NIC.

If you need to use the built-in DHCP allocator you still can but must turn
it on
manually (ICS does this automatically whether you want that or not.)

I have the same problem, one NIC with 192.168.x.x and other with a real IP.
When i enable RRAS i can not connect to the internet from even the local
server computer. But still there are incoming VPN and RDP connections
without problem..
Could not manage to solve that

This can happen if you use the VPN wizard to setup RRAS. By default the VPN wizard adds filters to the external adapter to only
allow VPN connections inbound. To turn this off, open the properties of the external nic from within RRAS MMC>IP Routing>
General. Click on the Input Filters button and remove all filters listed. CLick ok and repeat this for the Output filters.

Thank you,
