Routing and Remote Access Problems getting started

Christopher

I know you can do a RAS connection with a direct cable connection so I set
up a direct Cable Connection via hardware manager but when I go into Network
Connections; Add Connections; Set up an Advanced Connection; Accept Incoming
Connections. After I click it it tells me to check the system events log.
So I do and then right at the top is a error message here is the exact
message from Notepad.

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7024
Date: 8/11/2004
Time: 9:49:00 AM
User: N/A
Computer: CHRISTOPHER
Description:
The Routing and Remote Access service terminated with service-specific error
2147483720 (0x80000048).

Hi,
I had this same problem too.
Formerly, I have played with my system and I added a fictional "Communications cable between two computers" hardware. I haven't used it, i just added it there. This was the source of the error: all I had to do is remove this item from Device Manager, you will find this under Modems group. Voila, and RRAS will start. :)

Best regards,
inflater
