router problems

i just setup a router on my computer and now when i surf
the web the speed is slow its like im on a 56k anyone
know why
if u can help id appreciate it

What kind of router? what speed is your connection, and what type? ADSL?

Did you check your connection speed at any of the various websites
(dslreports.com, etc)? They're not 100% accurate but can be helpful.
Check your router to see if it can handle packet fragmentation - and if you
can adjust the MTU. Try to dumb it down (548?) to see if that makes any
difference.

ive dumbed it down to 548 but it also slows down the other
computer on the router
and also when i try to go to dslreports it wont it loads
slow or it dont load at all

You didn't mention the other computer before - so it wasn't having any
problems at all with the router set to the default MTU?
