root of your website

Can anyone please tell me how I can place a file in the 'root' of my
website? Fred
 
Just open your site, and that is the root.

the 'root' is the home directory on your server or your own computer. e.g. in MS
DOS C:\> is (was?) the "root directory" i.e. the lowest level of directorys you
can go past or further back than the 'root' directory. The term is used across
different computing platforms and O/S and is pretty much generic terminology in
computing.
