Roll back problem?

M

mike.thomas01

We use AD, GPOs and roaming profiles. 2003 back end XP SP2 front.

We have machines in a client area that we have tied down quite a lot
using GPOs...this works fine. There are restricted users that are
logged in onto these machines and only onto these machines...BUT a
"normal" user ignored advice and logged on as them. This client area
machine has rollback processing enforced using Merge.

She has now gone back to her machine, based in a staff only area its
GPO is the usual quite lax one. All her user settings are the ones
from the front line machine...

Why? Is there anyway I can restore her to the old way that doesn't
include deleting her profile?

I have run GP results against her desk machine, and it was normal, or
as it should be but it did not reflect the settings she was actually
"suffering". GP Planning also gave normal results.

This is really doing my flaky head in.

Hi Mike,

I guess this KB describes your problem.

Group Policy does not apply roaming profiles correctly if NTuser.dat and
NTuser.pol files are not synchronized
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830464/

Or you can try to rename (later delete) the ntuser.dat file in the profile
both local and on server.

HTH.

Denis
