retrieving work in Word that did not save - help!

Last night I had a unique problem. In working in a Word document, I actually
saved after every parapraph, then saved to a stick drive that had been
plugged in the whole time. I swear I checked a few of the saves and the 2 or
3 pages of new typing and edits were there! This morning when I went in to
open the document - it had not been saved on either drive and only the prior
document existed. Twilight Zone! Where did this info go? Why did save not
work? Is there any way to find the info? Search (for document/files) only
turned up the old document/files. This occurred on my HP laptop. HELP!?
