Retrieving auto-archived emails

I use Outlook 2000 on XP.

I inadvertently auto-archived. How can I get the emails back?

Open the archive.pst that was created during autoarchiving.

File | Open | Outlook Datafile

Where this file is stored in your file system you find out under

Tools | Options | More | AutoArchiving

(Though I have no Outlook 2000 but as far as I remember it's the same
path like in Outlook 2003)

Thanks Christian. It's at:

C:\Documents and Settings\Steve\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst

The trouble is, I don't know how to use "File" -> "Import and Export" so the
emails repopulate their old folders - in box, sent items, deleted items, etc.

None of the options under the "Import and Export" function seem to fit the
bill.

Don't use the import/export function of Outlook. Simply open the file

File | Open | Outlook-Datafile

Then you see this file as a separate Personal Folder in your folder
structure (you need to set this view) and you can copy/move the items in
your default Personal Folder.

That half-worked. It created an "Archive Folders" in my folder list; with
two sub-folders: "Deleted Items" and "Sent Item".

The "Sent Items" folder contained my archived sent items, but the "Deleted
Items" folder was empty. However, I have searched my entire hard-drive for
"*.pst" files, and found none elsewhere. Does that mean the archived deleted
items ar irretrievable lost?
