In an Outlook installation the user has enabled auto-archiving of emails.

During the auto-archiving the old emails were moved to a separate *.pst file.

How can I retrieve resp. restore these emails later?

Open the PST file using the File menu > Open > Outlook Data File command
then drag/drop items from the archive into the live PST or simply view the
items from the archive.

Within Outlook open the archive (File>Open) you can leave it open if you
wish, so theres no need to restore them

in Outlook: File | open | outlook data file, then browse to the .pst you
want to open.
