Retaining file name given by camera

I am using XP, when I download photos from the camera to My Pictures, how do
I retain the file name that the camera has given it, e.g CIMG123.jpg at the
moment XP names it Photo 1,2, 3 etc.

Also, do I still need the Casio camera driver on my PC or will the XP wizard
suffice?

Thanks

You don't need either one.

Get a (or use the built-in) media reader. Just move the media card from
the camera to the media reader. The media card will show up in Windows
Explorer as a drive. Then drag and drop pictured from the media drive
to wherever you want them.

"Magic" picture transfer programs are a pain.

Thanks Michael, I don't have a built in media reader and really want to avoid
the expense of buying one, so I was really hoping to find a solution using
the 'tools' that I have. Regards Sarah

If you look around you can find them for $10 or so. Just buy one that plugs
into a USB slot.

They usually sell for about $10, and are often "free" with rebates.

They are a very inexpensive solution to a multitude of problems.
