Just recently bought a new DELL . . but 1 of the old files that I had set up
under a spreadsheet will not open...

Any suggestions or help??

Fred,

What's the file type you're trying to open, and what's the exact error
message? If it's an Excel spreadsheet, do you have Excel installed in your
new DELL system?

Yes. I do have Excel installed.... but as to what type file it actually was
or is...I do not know. I am not getting an error message.... rather when I
try to open it.... the system gives me all sorts of options to open it
with...but nothing works. Basically I think that it was done under the
Microsoft Works document with the spreadsheet attached. When I try to open
it.all I get is something that looks like Chinese. Some one told me that the
file was corrupted. . How they know that...I do not have a clue. All it was
/ is a list of names, addresses, date the graduation invitation was sent, the
gift rec'd...and when the Thank you was sent.

Can I send you the file? Or attach it here somehow?

Hi Fred,

go to www.futuretechsys.com and click on "live help". If I can fix this in
5 minutes or less, which I think I can, I'll fix it for free. It will have
you download an applet that lets you get remote support. Just do
yes/install/etc. and I'll be waiting there.
