restore problems

I am attempting to restore my c drive from a backup using
MS Backup. Upon boot the "restored program goes into set
up and requests files from SP4 which it expects to find on
cdrom. I have a downloaded copy of SP4 but it is straight
from MS and is unexpanded and the setup program refuses to
extract what it needs. How do I expand the SP and after
transfer to CD Rom will set up see it and contiue.
Thanks

You don't say what program produces this message. But you should be able to
just reapply your downloaded copy of SP4, and that should give Windows the
files it needs.

.The program is W2K and unless it boots I can not apply SP4.
Setup ask for the program to be on my cd drive. I hope it
will read SP4 if it is uncompressed. Setup states it
wished to find a file on drive as follows G:\I386\ I
thought I would create I386 directory then uncpmpressed
files under it. Any suggestions as how to proceed?
