I'm getting the following error message when I try to restore a .BKF file
created with the NTBACKUP application on Windows XP Professional:
"The backup file contains unrecognized data and cannot be used."
I have two diffferent backups on two different CDs, each getting the same
error message. The backups completed successfully with no indication of a
problem. However, after my hard drive crashed and I lost all the data (the
local computer repair shop could not recover the files), I got this error
message when I tried to run a "restore" on the new PC (IBM ThinkCentre A30).
If I can't perform a "restore", then all my data is lost. Is there any
method to recover the .BKF files? I searched the Microsoft Knowledge Base
and didn't see any references to this particular problem.
Please advise.
Thanks.
