I used Norton SystemWorks 2003 to keep a few cookies to make access to some
of my favorite sites easier. Then, I installed Norton SystemWorks 2004 and
it did not copy what I had in the previous version and I lost all of my
cookies.

I have a good backup system and I found and restored those cookies to file
on my hard drive. Then, I tried to restore to where they belong. I can copy
the cookies OK. However, when I try to copy the Index file, windows says,
"Cannot copy INDEX: The requested operation cannot be performed on a file
with a user-mapped section open." Without the Index, my browser is not
finding the cookies.

Thanks for any help in getting my cookies restored.

PS. Symatec's response to my query showed a lack of understanding of the
processing.

If you are trying to copy to one that is your profile, it's in use.
Logon with another account to try to do that. (Or boot an OS
in another partition which can access the current OS file system.)

IE does have a facilty for backing up Cookies and Favorites.
It's the File, Import/Export Wizard. Have you tried it instead?
