Restore Autotext entries

I deleted my normal.dot (Word 2000) and now I no longer have my Autotext
entries. Is there anyway that I can retrieve these entries from one of my old
documents that was based on the previous normal.dot? (When I open an old
document, I can see the Autotext entries in the Autotext list.)

A backup of your old normal.dot would be the best bet.

For the default entries, all you need to do is rename your current
normal.dot.

I keep my AutoText and other customizations in separate global templates. It
is a bit more trouble setting up but what happened to you will not happen to
me. It also allows much more flexibility. See
http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step instructions
on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations including
AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros, etc.

This is why we suggest that you *rename* rather than delete Normal.dot. That
way AutoText entries and such are still available via the Organizer.
