resoring data from back up file

a technician back up my outlook data and i am trying to restore but it give
me the following mesasge
"the file XX/ archive. pst is not a personal folder file
 
This newsgroup is about Access, the database product. You'd get a better
answer in one of the Outlook newsgroups.

Does your archive pst file really have a space in the extension?
