I have two identical computers running on Win XP. A map
drive have been created on Computer A, that share a folder
of computer B.
I first started computer A, then several minutes start on
computer B.
The problem i encounter here is the Map drive in computer
A will show a red 'X' indicate no connection to computer
B. I first thought this could be the refresh time of
computer A that haven't refresh the connectivity of the
map drive. But, after that I found that is not the case.
It seem like we got to double click on the map drive to
bring back the connection.
I want the map drive to reconnect for my other application
to use, is there a way? or I might not have the knowledge
(know how), but how could I find the related topic in
microsoft support?

regards n thanks, PK Tan

in this case, you may want to create logon batch to do the mapping.

PK,

things are difficult when the server doesn't run. I'm not sure
whether this problem can be solved without user interaction.

Try to have the server running before you start the client. If
you don't do that, you have to double-click.

PK,

an afterthought---if you really want to get fancy, you could
create a little program in the form of a batch file that starts
computer B remotely, using Wake-on-LAN, then waits for 3
minutes, then maps the drive.

Please ask here for details if you really want to go that way,
but make sure first that computer B actually supports
Wake-on-LAN (BIOS, network adapter).
