REPOST - IE search problem

I'm reposting this as it seems to have been overlooked in amongst all the
other messages.

I have a problem with my IE and wonder if someone could help. I use IE
6.0.2800 and windows XP professional with service pack 1. When I type any
words into the search bar it searches for "q1=AACAAAAAAAAAAA--&q2=REJEcg--"
instead. I can then search using the search box in my browser window.

Sandi suggested it might be an encoding problem and asked for me to post my
settings but then I think my thread got buried. I posted extract from the
original thread below.

Sorry I should have mentioned again that I have checked, checked and
rechecked for all sorts of malware as I had originally posted to an internet
security forum, so I know its not that.
