Reply or forwarded mail icons not appearing in Windows Mail

I receive a lot of mail and most of it needs to be replied to or forwarded.

When I do, I'm finding that the icon (the arrow over the envelope) is not
appearing on the mail that has been replied to or forwarded.

Would someone please advise me.
